creativity

"Creativity takes courage." - Henri Matisse

If I were to explain this section to my paternal grandmother, I would say this is where I share my hobbies with the world. But of course hobbies is an understatement and does not fully capture the relevance of this section in my life. Hobbies suggest something I do on the side. I would argue this a section for the life giving activities in my life. What is life without a dash of the Arts? Growing up I was not very artistic because the Arts were not considered worth one's time. Instead I was encouraged to focus just on my studies. Whenever I would try to dance, my aunt would make comments about how bad of a dancer like my father I was. As you would imagine, I stayed away from the dance floor. I could never dream to pick up a pencil or a paint brush. Whenever I would sing out loud, my cousins and neighbors were sure to criticize my bad voice. However, in recent years as I have grown older Art and creativity have become very close to me. Creativity has helped me heal through some of the hard traumas I have had to go through in this life. Why should anyone tell me or you that we cannot be Artistic? Do not listen to anyone who tries to tell you that you cannot be creative. Go ahead and create! To me these creative avenues, enable me to live life to the fullest and with passion. I am happy when I am creating and sharing my creativity.
