Welcome to the "LIVE" section of my website. I have decided to find an acronym that succinctly summarizes what this page is about. One possible acronym is "Learning Important Values Everyday". This is apt as this section is intended to capture the essence of who I am as a person. It is intended to capture the things I value and the lessons I am learning through this earthly human experience.
After a long and iterative process of introspection, I have come to define 5 values that I live by and 4 pillars around which I organize my effort in life. The values are: Growth, Ubuntu, Creativity, Curiosity and Excellence. The pillars are: Personal Development, Meaningful Communities, Professional Excellence, and Financial Sustainability.
As far as I can remember, I have always loved to write and journal. Writing is one way I ensure I engage with my innate curiosity and reflect on all that I am learning from life experiences. It is also an outlet where I continue to challenge my values against real world applications --- beyond the theoretical.
Disclaimer: The opinion and positions expressed in any of the blog articles are guaranteed only as of that date. As I continue to grow, my opinion on different topics evolve as well, but I will not be retroactively updating the articles to reflect my latest beliefs.
This section is dedicated to celebrating the myth of Tumisang Ramarea, that inspires many in my homeland. It is a legend so powerful, that even I, as the bearer of the name, am inspired when I hear it and its associated testimonies. I write it in the third person to underscore the pseudo-celebrity status I have in my home village.
One of my core values, learned from the village that raised me, is Ubuntu. It is a profound idea that underscores that our individual wellbeing is tied to and predicated upon our collective wellbeing. There is no me without the next person and definitely none of my success could have been possible on my own. This section of my website celebrates communities and individuals who have contributed significantly to my journey. It also aims at sharing resources with those who could draw inspiration from my journey.
I have always loved to travel. At first, I loved to travel to escape the reality of the poverty in my home: spending every school vacation visiting relatives who were relatively well off. Then I loved to travel because it showed me new places: signing up for every school trip to travel the breadth and width of Botswana. Now I have had the privilege to live and study/work in Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, and California. I have also traveled to many countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Travel has taught me so much and afforded me the opportunity to challenge the values I hold.
